On the first day of fall, many turn in their vanilla or hazelnut coffee creamer for pumpkin spice. Although, there are far more fall flavors to delight your taste buds in, starting with these seven unique blends to cook with.

Brown Sugar Spice

Sweet and spicy are the perfect duo, whether you are dry rubbing meat or making spice cookies. Whether you want a kick from cayenne or black pepper, sweet and spicy is the perfect fall flavor for both savory and sweet treats this holiday season.

Apple Cinnamon

Growing up, if you ate oatmeal as a child, your favorite way to spice up your breakfast was by adding apples and cinnamon. What better time to enjoy apples than fall? If you didn’t know, it’s apple picking season. From apple cider to pie, specialty apple sauce for the kids, or a cake, revisit your youngin’ years with this delicious combination.

Chai

Not much of a coffee drinker? Ditch the beans and treat yourself to a taste of chai, which is a combination of spices – cardamom, clove, and cinnamon. Mix it with espresso, or just creamy milk, and enjoy a warm, comforting beverage this season.

Ginger

While gingerbread may be more of a Christmas flavor traditionally, it pairs fantastically in chicken rubs, pumpkin soups, pork dumplings, and of course, ginger snap cookies. You have two options when cooking with ginger, including dried and ground.

Maple

Did the word maple make you think of waffles? Of course it did! Replace your PSL latte with maple, or better yet, glaze your salmon or mix in maple with your sweet potatoes.

Pear

While apples are a given fall flavor, pears are a fall favorite fruit as well. From slicing them and spreading them over a charcuterie board to pair with cheese to making a pear grilled cheese on the stove, or delighting yourself with a pear pie, pear is the taste of fall you have been missing.

Browned Butter

Have you ever had browned butter? Perhaps over pasta or drizzled in mashed potatoes? When cooked on the stove, as butter melts, the milk and butterfat will separate and darken in color. It can be used in your sweet treats as well, including lemon bars and cupcakes.
