Grab The Warm Bedding

If your dog doesn’t sleep in your bed, make sure they have a warm, fluffy bed or blanket of their own to keep them cozy all night long. If you happen to have an outdoor dog, you’ll need to monitor the temperatures and let them inside on cooler nights. Their fur will not protect them enough for long periods of time in low temperatures.

Pay Attention To The Paws

Your dog’s paws touch literally everything associated with winter weather. This includes everything from snow to salt used on roads. For snow, make sure you wipe it all off once you’re done walking in order to prevent your dog’s paw pads from becoming irritated. For road salt, you’ll want to wash your dog’s paws off completely after every walk. The chemicals in these items can be toxic if ingested. If you deal with lots of either of these scenarios, you may want to buy a pair of dog booties for winter walks.

Make Sure To Monitor Time Outside

When the weather permits, it’s important for your dog’s health and wellbeing to go outside. However, since it is winter, you’ll need to keep a few things in mind. If it’s very cold outside, be sure to not leave your dog outside for too long. Plus, if your dog has thin fur, you may want to put a sweater or other warm clothing on to protect them.
