Native Plant Collections

Meadowlark Botanical Gardens has created a few distinct native plant collections in order to support the International Agenda for Botanic Gardens in Conservation. The largest of these is called the Potomac Valley Collection. In 1998 Meadowlark initiated a regional native plant conservation program to support its cause. Similar to other native collections, its main objective is to protect the conservation of native plants and their habitats by using public education and display. The administration of the garden prioritized the importance that the new collection is highly regionalized in scope. This makes geology, hydrology, climate, and floristics very important to the development of the collection.

Events

There are always a good amount of events surrounding the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens on a regular basis. Next week the garden will be celebrating Veteran’s Day with Military Appreciation Night at Meadowlark’s Winter Walk of Lights on Thursday, November 11, 2021. From 5:30 pm until 10:00 pm on November 11, all active or former military personnel will be admitted for free when accompanied by a paying guest. Paying guests may purchase their tickets online or on-site. Admission ends each night at 9:15 pm.
