2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale: Luxury Plug-In Hybrid SUV

Earlier this year Alfa Romeo announced plans to go have an all electric line-up by the year 2027.

The 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale is the first Plug-in hybrid model for the brand. The Tonale is also the first step closer to realizing that pledge of an all-electric future. The 2023 Tonale is instantly recognized as an Alfa Romeo because of its distinct sophisticated styling and the iconic V Scudetto Grille at the forefront of the plug-in hybrid SUV. The Alfa Romeo name comes with promises and expectations of power, attitude, and electric capability.

Behind the wheel, Tonale drivers have all the benefits that come with an electric motor with the advantage of using fuel if and when needed. Two drivetrains will be offered inside the 2023 Tonale. The first is a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine providing 180 horsepower and an electric motor powered by a 15.5 -kWh lithium Ion battery that produces 121 horsepower. Working together the Tonale is ready for the road with a 6-speed automatic transmission, over 30 eMPG range, and 272 horsepower. The second available drivetrain switches the gasoline engine to a spirited turbocharged 2-liter in-line 4-cylinder engine providing 256 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The Tonale comes standard with all-wheel drive. Drivers can also utilize three drive modes: Natural, Advanced Efficiency, and Dynamic modes.
