2023 Stelvio – Safety and Drivers Assistance Technology Overview

The 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is here at Alfa Romeo of Tysons Corner. The Stelvio remains the best available driving experience with best-in-class horsepower, torque, top speed, and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph. Like every car on the market, the Stelvio comes with a suite of standard safety features and has several additional available features that can be added on preference.

The Stelvio has several standard safety features to protect passengers, increase the driver’s awareness, and avoid road hazards. The 2023 Stelvio comes equipped with front-impact airbags for the driver and passenger and seat-mounted side-impact airbags for the driver and passenger. A sensor in the front passenger seat checks for seat occupancy to avoid unnecessary airbag deployment. Overhead curtain airbags shield the 1st and 2nd rows. According to the IIHS, curtain airbags reduce the risk of death in an accident by 16 percent. Side impact beams strengthen the body of the Stelvio as well as redistribute crash energy away from passengers.

2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio | Standard Safety Features

The 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio comes with four standard comprehensive monitoring and collision avoidance systems. Hidden in the body of the Stelvio are several sensors and cameras to measure, monitor, and react to outside forces.

Forward Collision Warning with Full Stop uses proximity sensors at the front of the Stelvio to monitor the road ahead and scrutinize the distance between you and the vehicle in front. If the system detects a likely unavoidable collision the Stelvio will alert the driver and apply the brakes automatically.

Cruise control keeps the vehicle at a speed set by the driver. The 2023 Stelvio can do that and more. Adaptive Cruise Control with Full Stop uses a camera embedded at the top of the windshield and a radar sensor hidden in the front of the body. This ADAS system not only maintains a certain speed of travel but can also intelligently reduce speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.

Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Path Detection alerts the driver with a cabin sound and an on-screen alert when a vehicle is approaching Stelvio’s blind spot. This system is especially useful in parking lots and congested areas because the system is also active when the Stelvio is in reverse. Backing out of a parking space or side street parking space are both situations where the driver has reduced visibility and there is a danger of a blind spot collision.

Front and Rear Park Assist taps into ultrasonic sensors at the front and rear of the luxury SUV to provide distance alerts when objects are in the path of travel. This feature is your personal parking spotter making sure you can get into your desired space without playing tap-and-go with the brakes.

2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio | Available Safety Features

Alfa Romeo has a selection of available safety and security features to increase your confidence behind the wheel of the new Stelvio.

Lanesense Lane Keep Assist System monitors the Stelvio’s position between lane lines. This system alerts the driver when the vehicle drifts toward an adjacent lane and actively adjusts the steering to return to the center.

Active Blind Spot Assist uses proximity sensors to scan the blind spot area. When a mass is detected in the blind spot the Stelvio will provide the driver with an on-screen alert. If the blind spot is not clear and the turn signal is active, the Stelvio will alert the driver it is not yet safe to change lanes with an audible, visual, and tactile warning. This safety system is included in the Active Assist Plus Package.

Intelligent Speed Control uses the Stelvios built-in cameras and sensors to look out for traffic sign markers and displays the recommended appropriate speed for the area. While using cruise control this system will use road signs to recommend a preset speed adjustment to the driver.

Highway and Traffic Jam Assist is a Level 2 autonomous system available with the Active Assist Plus Package. This ADAS was designed for congested road conditions but is also functional at highway speeds. This safety technology adjusts speed, monitors the distance from the posterior vehicle, and applies the brakes to aid in preventing a frontal collision.

Driver Attention Alert keeps track of steering behavior and total travel time. This system looks out for signs of driver fatigue or distraction and warns the driver of their behavior by suggesting a break.
