A new year is the perfect time to get a fresh start. With a little preparation, you can open your eyes on January 1 and welcome a new day with exciting possibilities around every corner. One way to shake off the old year and usher in the new one is by cleaning out and getting organized. You might be surprised by how much better you’ll feel when your new year kicks off without any of the baggage from the previous one! Here are a few simple ways to prepare for a clean slate in 2021!

Clean Out Your Pantry

Maybe one of your New Year’s resolutions is to do more cooking at home. Or maybe you just haven’t taken stock of your pantry in a while and it could use some attention. Take a look at what you have. Toss expired goods or mostly empty boxes. Check out your spices and see if they’ve lost their freshness and need to be replaced. Once you’ve got a better idea what what you have, you’ll know what you need to restock.

Clean Out Your Purse and Wallet

Old receipts and scraps of paper, loose change, and random objects tend to find their way to the bottom of purses and into the nooks and crannies of wallets. Get rid of it all and start fresh with just the necessities. If you have any expired credit cards, make sure you dispose of them properly in order to protect your personal information.

Catch Up with Laundry

Now’s a good time to wash those new clothes and linens you got for Christmas and get a head start on the laundry that doesn’t get frequent attention: heavy winter blankets, bedspreads, and window coverings. When it’s all done and back in place, your home will be fresh and ready for the new year.
